Keynote Speakers

Jim Bildner Jim Bildner, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University and Adjunct Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Bildner focuses on investing in nonprofits and social enterprises that are working to solve complex issues including systemic poverty, environmental and conservation issues, food insecurity, access to healthcare, homelessness, community development and second generation strategies to address these issues. At the Kennedy School, his research interests include understanding the role of private capital in solving public problems, extending the capacity of foundations to solve complex societal issues and the sustainability of public and private systems when governments disinvest in these systems. Bildner is a nationally recognized lecturer, panelist, and speaker on nonprofit organizations, social enterprise, capitalization and the institutional role of philanthropy in solving complex societal issues. Among his board affiliations, he is a trustee of The Kresge Foundation, The Non Profit Finance Fund, The Public Citizen Foundation, the Health Foundation for the Americas, and many more.
Jeremy Kohomban Jeremy Kohomban, Ph.D., President and CEO of The Children's Village and President of Harlem Dowling. The Children's Village and Harlem Dowling provide a broad continuum of programs including evidence-based support for families, shelters for homeless youth and immigrant children, alternatives to incarceration, non-secure detention, adoption and foster care services, alternative schools, affordable housing, and specialized services for nearly 20,000 children and families annually. Dr. Kohomban is an author, advocate and expert in child welfare and juvenile justice. His leadership has been recognized by The New York TimesWashington Post, NPR and other publications. Dr. Kohomban serves and served on various boards including NYC's Child Welfare Watch, Child Welfare Organizing Project, The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, Annie E. Casey Foundation's Center for Effective Family Services and Systems, Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA), the Washington D.C. based American Youth Work Center which publishes the periodical Youth Today, Iraqi Children Foundation, and Charity Navigator’s Advisory Panel.  He has earned a reputation as a leader who effectively blends human services with accountability and a pragmatic business sense. 
Susan Meier Susan Meier, Senior Governance Consultant at BoardSource. Meier has spent more than 23 years in governance and nonprofit work, working collaboratively with nonprofit executives and board members to identify governance challenges and opportunities and to implement proven strategies to address a broad array of governance issues. Much of Meier's work has focused on increasing board engagement, board/staff relations, and leadership transitions. Her 13 years as a senior executive at Prevent Child Abuse America has given her concrete experience in understanding the complex and unique challenges of federated organizations and structures. Meier's current and past clients include ASME, Association of Junior Leagues International, Center for Excellence in Nonprofits, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Council on Foundations, Greensboro Nonprofit Consortium, NeighborWorks America, San Antonio Community Foundation, Volunteers of America, and the Wege Foundation, among others. She has also served as faculty for the Kellogg School of Management Nonprofit Executive Education program, the George Washington University, and the Issues in Nonprofit Governance Conference hosted by Georgetown Law, the IRS and Independent Sector.
