Robert York named Director of Consulting Services for Lutheran health and human services network

March 1, 2007 – Baltimore, MD – Lutheran Services in America (LSA) has named Robert York as Director of Consulting Services effective March 1, 2007.

The Director of Consulting Services is responsible for a broad menu of consulting services, including peer consultation and direct consulting services to the staffs of the nearly 300 Lutheran health and human services organizations in the United States.

Doug Johnson, Vice President of Programs and Services for LSA, said, “Bob brings vast experience in health and human services and has provided consultation and facilitation services in a variety of contexts. Bob's knowledge of the Lutheran social ministry system will enable him to ‘hit the ground running’ in his new role with LSA.”

From 1997 to this year, York was Chief Service Officer and Vice President of Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, the state’s largest nonprofit social service organization. During this tenure, York also chaired the LSA Disability Network, a national network of faith-based providers which serve individuals with developmental disabilities.

York has also been Director of Community Social Services and Mental Health in Anoka County, Minnesota, and from 1985-1991 served as Assistant Commissioner of Social Services and Assistant Director, Developmental Disabilities Division, of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

He also taught at the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana and at the University of Vermont Department of Special Education. York holds a BS and MS degrees from the University of Wisconsin.

Lutheran Services in America creates opportunities for people in thousands of communities throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Its nearly 300 member health and human service organizations, with combined operating budgets of more than $9.5 billion, offer healing and hope to one in every 50 Americans providing services such as health care, housing, adoptions, disability, and aging support neighbor to neighbor.
