LSA President and CEO Named to NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50 List
August 6, 2007 – Baltimore, MD – For the fifth consecutive year Jill A. Schumann, President and CEO of Lutheran Services in America (LSA), has been included in the "Power & Influence Top 50" compiled by the NonProfit Times.
The list, released August 1, names leaders nationwide who are in positions of greatest influence in the nonprofit sector. These executives were selected for the impact they have now and for the innovative plans they are putting in place to evolve the charitable sector, according to the NonProfit Times.
"When it comes to human service delivery, there are very few communities where LSA doesnt influence public policy. Its estimated that the network touches one of every 50 Americans," read a portion of the citation accompanying Schumanns listing.
Schumann said, This recognition is a tribute to the tremendous work accomplished every day across the country by staff members, volunteers, board members, donors and others in each of LSA's nearly 300 member health and human service organizations. It is an indication of the respect that others in the nonprofit sector have for LSA and its members.
The list is available on the NonProfit Times website, http://www.nptimes.com
Lutheran Services in America creates opportunities with people in thousands of communities throughout the United States and the Caribbean as an alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and their nearly 300 health and human service organizations. Working neighbor to neighbor through services in health care, aging and disability supports, community development, housing, and child and family strengthening, these organizations together touch the lives of one in 50 Americans each year.
