    House Approves Older Americans Act Reauthorization Bill

    On March 21, the US House of Representatives voted to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (OAA). The legislation slightly amends the OAA reauthorization measure (S. 192) adopted by the Senate last July. The two chambers must now reconcile the discrepancies between their bills, which could be achieved by Senate endorsement of the House-passed version.     Providing the Keys to Home

    Bridge of Hope partners with congregations and ministry organizations to help homeless mothers

    For Lutheran Services Carolinas, a member of the LSA network, working to help people in their community live independent, meaningful lives are key to their mission. When LSC partnered with Bridge of Hope, they found a partner to work with to bring together single mothers in need of support, professional support and volunteer mentors from the local church community.

    Welcome Caleb Rollins to the LSA Team

    Please join us in welcoming Caleb Rollins to the Lutheran Services in America network. As of March 21, Caleb joins LSA in Washington, D.C. as Development Manager, reporting to Vice President of Development Deborah Hoesly. Caleb will work closely with Deborah to pursue funding opportunities for LSA and its members and engage LSA's foundation and individual partners to advance our network's mission.

    Congratulations to LSA member Bill Hanawalt for being named a White House Champion of Change

    Congratulations to Bill Hanawalt, Executive Director of Peace Community Center, for being one of nine people nationally selected as a “White House Champion of Change for Summer Opportunity.” Bill was chosen because of his commitment to advocating for summer learning, meals and violence prevention in Tacoma, Washington. Peace Community Center is a member of the LSA network and Bill has served on our board.
