March 2, 2004 (Baltimore, MD) - Direct Care Workforce Shortage Report released
Lutheran Services in America has just released a report on the direct care
work force shortage in the nonprofit health and human services industry. This
report describes the range of programs and strategies that are being employed to
attract and retain direct care workers. Since many of these programs are initiated
by state governments, there is a list of state governments offering each type of
program. This report will be very valuable to all nonprofit organizations facing
the challenge of sustaining their direct care workforce. The report was made
possible by a grant from the Division for Church in Society of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America. The report is available online here, or hard copies
may be obtained by contacting Lutheran Services in America, 700 Light Street,
Baltimore, MD 21230. PH: (410) 230-2703.
