Member Testimonial

A sequence of experiences this year exemplifies how valuable the LSA connection is. At the 2012 CEO Academy Brian Tennant, VP of Information Services at Bethesda Lutheran Communities led a session on managing information technology. It really got me thinking about our agency's IT strategies related to meeting our current and future program and business goals. In April at the LSA conference in Pittsburgh, I attended a second great workshop on aligning technology and business strategy. It was led by two CEOs, a CFO and their principal information officers. That led to a phone conversation and emails with Staci Wellentin with LSS Wisconsin/Upper Michigan. Julie Swanson The next connection happened when one of our agency staff members won an IPad given by CSC Leasing - a sponsor and exhibitor at the 2012 Annual Conference and a new LSA Business Partner. Rawleigh Taylor and Cathy Redford from CSC Leasing called to talk with me about their services which in turn led to a referral to an amazing consultant, Rohana Meade with Synergy Technical, a company who specializes in turning IT into business solutions. It turns out that both Cathy Redford and Ro Meade have had long-term work relations with Fred Kraegel, LSA Board member and both come highly recommended by him. In July, Fred traveled from his home in Richmond,VA to Roanoke to see several of our programs and visit with me and our staff. It was a very insightful visit. I have found three wonderful resources all because I am part of Lutheran Services in America.

Purchasing Point

The National Human Services Assembly has partnered with a group purchasing organization called AdvantageTrust, a division of HealthTrust Purchasing Group to provide LSA members access to the PurchasingPoint® program. PurchasingPoint® is an exclusive discount program for nonprofits that leverages group buying power to get access to significant savings from your everyday vendors. The program is designed to help nonprofits reduce overhead costs by providing access to discounts on a vast range of products and services including, but not limited to: office supplies, shipping, copiers, postage equipment, furniture, cleaning supplies, promotional merchandise, car rental, cell phones, and more. Discounts in the program are negotiated with vendors based on $24 billion in annual collective buying power, more than any one nonprofit could do alone. As a result, the program provides nonprofits access to a level of pricing typically reserved for Fortune 100 companies.Key Benefits of PurchasingPoint®

  • 50%+ savings with select vendors on car rental, shipping, and copy/printing equipment
  • Average Aggregate savings of $18 million annually among program participants
  • Estimated average savings of 33% annually across all vendors

  • Over 200 unique vendors
  • Free benefit for being a member of Lutheran Services in America

Savings gained through utilizing the program can be directed away from overhead spending and into the hands of your mission-related programming.  Remember, it’s easier to save money than it is to raise it!  PurchasingPoint® provides just that opportunity. To learn more, contact or or
