Being a leader in today's nonprofit world requires a special set of skills and leading a social ministry adds an even more complex set of challenges and opportunities. It's a balancing act leaders can relate to as well as the focus of the 2016 LSA Lutheran Leadership Summit.
This year's theme, the "Leadership Balancing Act," will take center stage, February 21 - 24, 2016 in Carefree, Arizona. During this highly interactive leadership development program, you'll explore the intersection of innovation, mission and change, through the lens and unique context of Lutheran social ministry.
The Lutheran Leadership Summit brings together senior leaders from across the country and is a rare chance to gain valuable connections and support from a trusted network of Lutheran social ministry leaders facing similar nonprofit challenges.
As part of this highly interactive program, you will hear from:
- The Center for Creative Leadership – Drs. Laura Quinn and Alice Cahill have developed a customized program for LSA’s leaders of Lutheran organizations about the inherent balance of running the day-to-day business of a nonprofit organization and the need to innovate for the future.
- Dr. David Lose, President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia who will explore the dynamics of an organization’s Lutheran roots and how this context informs the challenging decisions leaders must make.
- Susan Heath Hays, Human Services Consultant and Trainer for the best-selling book Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard, who will examine ways to ignite change and increase employee engagement.
- LSA members from NYU Lutheran, Diakon, Upbring, Ecumen, Lutheran Social Services of Michigan and more will share best practices and lessons learned with a Lutheran social ministry perspective and deep understanding of our shared heritage and how we work together as a national network. Hearing from and learning with fellow Lutheran Services in America members is one of the most valuable aspects of this leadership development event.
The Summit agenda includes a great deal of interaction and time to engage with peers, share experiences, meet new colleagues and reconnect with others, including a welcome reception and group dinner to enjoy fellowship and build your peer-to-peer network.
Who should attend?
