In this 1 hour long discussion, we will discuss the opportunities to partner with healthcare partners and payers with a volunteer program. The Affordable Care Act offers incentives to health care providers and payers to partner in non-traditional ways. Mark Cullen, Senior Corps – Senior Director of Program Development at Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, will highlight the added value that volunteer programs offer to healthcare providers and payers by providing services such as transportation to medical appointments and companionship with volunteers to reduce readmissions. Mark will share the business case and value proposition that he is sharing with health care providers to establish partnerships. Additionally, he will share LSSMN's lessons learned as the largest Senior Companion program provider in the country. There will be dedicated time for Q&A.
Mark Cullen, Senior Director of Senior Corps Programs, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota
Mark Cullen is the new Senior Director of LSSMN's Senior Corps programs. Mark has been involved with Senior Corps programs for more than a decade. His experience with Senior Corps began as a State Program Specialist in the Iowa and Minnesota state offices where he managed a portfolio of Senior Corps and VISTA programs, led the development of a training curriculum for new Senior Corps directors, and helped to develop new processes for compliance monitoring of Senior Corps and AmeriCorps VISTA programs. Mark joined LSS in June 2015 as the Senior Corps Director of Program Development. That effort created a business plan for our entry into the healthcare sector space by linking Senior Companion activities with healthcare sector providers and payers.
