Health and Social Services Expert Jane Isaacs Lowe Elected
to Lutheran Services in America Board of Directors
Former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Adviser Joins Board as the Organization Positions for Future Growth and Advancement

WASHINGTON Today Lutheran Services in America announces the election of Jane Isaacs Lowe, former Senior Adviser for Program Development at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to its board of directors.

A veteran social service advocate, Lowe brings deep expertise on health care and social services.

“Jane Isaacs Lowe brings critical expertise and insight on the most challenging problems facing our society today and the social ministries of Lutheran Services in America that provide care and services to people in need,” said David Fenoglietto, President and CEO of Lutheran SeniorLife and Chair of the Lutheran Services in America board of directors. “Lowe’s perspective and experience will help us shape Lutheran Services in America as we pursue our goal of ensuring that all Americans can reach their full potential.”

In addition to serving as Senior Adviser for program development at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Lowe also previously directed the foundation’s vulnerable populations portfolio and served as a Senior Program Officer. Lowe was also previously a member of the faculty at the School of Social Work at University of Pennsylvania where she taught and published on health practice, administration, and planning, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Award. Earlier in her career, Lowe was a social work administrator and faculty member of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center medical schools’ Department of Community Medicine in New York City.

“I am looking forward to joining the board of such an innovative and dedicated organization,” said Lowe. “The size and scope of Lutheran Services in America—its 300 plus members who collectively serve one in 50 Americans each year—makes the organization one of the leaders in caring for society’s most vulnerable people.”

Lowe holds a Ph.D. in social welfare policy and planning from Rutgers University, a M.S.W. in Social Work from Columbia University and a B.A. in Sociology and Education from Cedar Crest College where she served on the Board of Trustees. She is a current fellow at the New York Academy of Medicine and a member of the Board of Trustees of Playworks.
