LSA Disability Network Convenes in Carefree, AZ for 2016 Winter Meeting

Friday, February 12, 2016

Over 40 individuals representing 17 LSA-DN member organizations met this week in Carefree, AZ for the 2016 Winter Meeting. Attendees focused on addressing the huge issues of DSP recruitment and retention. Using real data from their organizations, Amy Hewitt from the University of Minnesota Institute on Community Integration walked us through what the data says about DSP staffing challenges, what we are currently doing well, and what could be done better. Stay tuned for follow up on this important issue!

The day before about 20 individuals actively participated in a workshop on reframing human services using the research-tested frame put out by the National Human Services Assembly. Ilsa Flanagan & Bridget Gavaghan led a series of exercises teach attendees how to write using the frame. We then constructed statements within the frame that described disability services.
