Lutheran Services in America issued the following statement in response to Congressman Paul Ryan's (R-WI) release of his "Expanding Opportunity in America" discussion draft:
Lutheran Services in America (LSA) welcomes the contribution made by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) to our national dialogue about poverty and opportunity with the recent release of the “Expanding Opportunity in America” discussion draft. As one of the largest health and human services networks in the country, LSA members see the challenges of poverty firsthand as they work across the country to transform the lives of people and communities.
LSA appreciates Congressman Ryan putting forth his ideas and his recognition of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan as an example of a service provider doing good work at a local level to meet the needs of families. LSA will be reaching out to its members for their feedback on the plan and for their own innovative ideas. LSA looks forward to continued dialogue with members of both parties as we seek solutions that allow people to lead more independent, secure and abundant lives.
LSA welcomes feedback on Congressman Ryan's plan from LSA member organizations. To share your thoughts, email Lindsey Copeland at email@example.com.
