Please join us in welcoming Thomas "T.J." Cantwell to the Lutheran Services in America team. T.J. joins LSA as of January 5, 2015 as a Director of Member Engagement, reporting to Alesia Frerichs, vice president of Member Engagement. His initial areas of focus will be in supporting the new Disaster Network; managing the member database, including selecting and migrating to a new database platform; identifying federal funding opportunities for members and general support of members, communities of practice and the Member Engagement team.
T.J. is an experienced membership association professional with more than 15 years of experience in the national association and nonprofit sectors with extensive experience managing and developing national initiatives. Prior to joining LSA, he served as Membership Director for the International Parking Institute and Director of Veterans Housing for Rebuilding Together, Inc. He has also served in regulatory and government relations positions, and as Vice President of Nonprofit Relations for Good360, formerly Gifts in Kind International.
He holds a BA in Government and History from the University of Virginia, a Masters of Public Policy from American University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management from the Institute for Organization Management, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
T.J. fills the position left vacant with the departure of Jeanean Merkel, who has moved with her husband to British Columbia, Canada. Jeanean was with LSA for eight years and we thank her for her committed and thoughtful service to LSA and the Lutheran social ministry community.
