    Two New Directors Called to Serve on Lutheran Services in America Board

    Lutheran Services in America, Incorporated (LSA) has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. Reverend John Barton Day, executive director of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Office of National Mission, and Reverend Donald J. Fondow, district president of the Minnesota North District of The LCMS, joined as Class B Board Directors as of August 10, 2015.

    Lutheran Services in America Successfully Meets Thrivent Financial Foundation’s $50,000 Challenge Grant

    Lutheran Services in America (LSA) is thrilled to announce that it has met the Thrivent Financial Foundation's (Thrivent) Challenge Grant for the LSA 20-500 Fund, a three-year fundraising campaign commemorating and building towards LSA's 20th anniversary and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.     At the Crossroads of Caring for Unaccompanied Migrant Children – Thank You to Our National Network of Partner Organizations

    On July 23, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) announced the launch of a new report, "At the Crossroads for Unaccompanied Migrant Children: Policy, Practice & Protection." More than 40 people attended the standing-room-only event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., which featured remarks from Linda Hartke, LIRS President and CEO and a panel discussion with experts on immigration and refugee resettlement.

    Senate Unanimously Approves OAA Reauthorization Bill

    On July 16, the Senate unanimously passed the Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2015 (S. 192). LSA strongly supports this bipartisan measure, which includes modest changes to key Older Americans Act (OAA) programs, updates important definitions, and makes thoughtful adjustments designed to reflect the realities facing current and future seniors.
