January 4, 2012 – Baltimore, MD – Lisa M. Schiller, LCSW, was named by the LSA Board of Directors as Acting President and CEO effective January 1, 2012, as a search is undertaken for the next President and CEO.
LSA is an alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and their over 300 health and human service organizations. Lutheran social ministry organizations form one of the largest nonprofit networks in the country. Together they serve one in 50 Americans each year and have aggregated annual incomes over $18 billion.
Ms. Schiller has been with LSA since 2003, serving as Director for Knowledge Strategies and more recently as Vice President, Operations. Prior to her work with LSA, she worked for over eight years in progressive leadership positions with Glade Run Lutheran Services in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, where she oversaw a broad continuum of community and residential treatment services for children and youth. For a number of years, she served on the advisory committee for the Social Work program at Slippery Rock University.
In announcing the appointment, LSA Board Chairperson, Ted Goins, Jr., said, "The LSA Board of Directors has great confidence in Lisa and the LSA staff during these months of transition. To her role as Acting President and CEO, Lisa brings deep knowledge about the Lutheran health and human services network, expertise in program development and expansion, experience in the integration of clinical services and finance, and background in staff development strategies."
Ms. Schiller holds a Master of Social Work degree from Marywood University.
