LSA President and CEO Named to NonProfit Times
“Power & Influence Top 50” List for Eighth Year in a Row
August 6, 2010 (Baltimore, MD) - For the eighth consecutive year Jill A. Schumann, President and CEO of Lutheran Services in America (LSA), has been named to the "Power & Influence Top 50" compiled by the NonProfit Times. Schumann is among a small group of leaders included in the list for eight years in row.
The list names leaders nationwide who are in positions of greatest influence in the nonprofit sector. There were more than 250 nominees, which were, according to the NonProfit Times, “weighted toward the technology, social entrepreneurs and public service trends.” The NonProfit Times explains that “These executives were selected for the impact they have now and for the innovative plans they are putting in place to evolve the charitable sector.”
The NonProfit Times cites Schumann for her influence on "a network of 300 health and human service organizations that have an aggregated annual income of more than $16.6 billion and serve one in 50 Americans.”
Schumann said, “I am honored to be named to the NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50 once again. I am excited to see the new and young executives on the list as well. It is evidence that traditional nonprofits, true to their history, are evolving to continue to be innovative and complement others who are seeking to create better communities. Every day I am inspired by LSA member organizations that find ever new ways to love and serve the neighbor and that seek to create communities that are generous, inclusive and just.”
The list is available on the NonProfit Times website.
Lutheran Services in America creates opportunities with people in thousands of communities throughout the United States and the Caribbean as an alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, and their more than 300 health and human service organizations. Working neighbor to neighbor through services in health care, aging and disability supports, community development, housing, and child and family strengthening, these organizations together touch the lives of more than six million people or one in 50 Americans each year.
