David Duea became President and CEO of Lutheran Community Services Northwest on July 1, 2014 and his father, Rev. Robert Duea, assumed the position of Interim President and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest on August 1st 2014.
David Duea formerly served as CEO for HopeSparks Family Services in Tacoma, Washington, a position he had held since 2001. He has worked in the non-profit human services field since graduating from Pacific Lutheran University in 1989 and has extensive experience with services focusing on the needs of youth and families. He and his family make their home in Gig Harbor, Washington
David's father, Rev. Robert Duea, was Executive Director of Lutheran Family Service of Oregon in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He went on to become President & CEO of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. After retiring, he and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Surprise, Arizona. Since that time he has come out of retirement four times to provide transitional leadership for nonprofit organizations.
Both organizations are affiliated with and recognized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Both are active partners with their congregations, Lutheran Services in America and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services.
