Lutheran Services in America is pleased to announce that Deborah Hoesly has joined our national headquarters team as the new Vice President of Development. This is a new position for the organization; she joins LSA as of October 6, 2014.
In this role, Deborah is responsible for individual, corporate and foundation giving, as well as donor relations and development strategy. Previously, Deborah served as the Director of Development for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University where she was responsible for fundraising for seven academic disciplines as well as for their "Great Performances at Mason," the university's premiere series of national performances, and ARTS by George!, their signature annual benefit event.
Deborah brings more than a decade of experience in fundraising for the arts and higher education. From 2006-2014, she held a series of positions with increasing responsibility at George Mason University's College of Visual and Performing Arts in Fairfax, Virginia, eventually becoming Director of Development. Throughout her tenure at Mason, Deborah spearheaded highly successful events and programs that grew to raise over $1M in funds annually benefiting student scholarships, various capital projects, and support for the season of Great Performances at Mason at the Center for the Arts.
Earlier in her career, Deborah served as Development Manager at The Washington Chorus in Washington, D.C. and as Interim Manager of Individual Giving at The Santa Fe Opera in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Deborah earned a Master of Arts in Arts Management from George Mason University and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Spanish from the University of South Carolina. Throughout her career, she has volunteered for numerous arts and education community groups. Currently, Deborah serves on the Development Committee for Fall for Books.
