Abbie Blake

LSA is pleased to welcome Abigail Blake, a senior at Valparaiso University majoring in International Economics & Cultural Affairs, to Lutheran Services in America (LSA). Abbie is spending the fall 2015 semester at the Lutheran Services in America office in Washington, D.C. working with Member Engagement, the team responsible for serving and connecting our membership.

She will be engaged in knowledge management work, helping us to improve our data and the way we track information, as well as supporting projects related to advocacy and public policy on behalf of our members. Lutheran Services in America, Incorporated (LSA) is one of the largest health and human services networks in the country with more than 300 members that provide a broad range of critical services from health care to children and family services, senior services, disaster relief, refugee services, disability support, housing, and employment support, among others. Collectively, LSA members serve 1 in 50 people each year in thousands of communities across the United States.

We're excited to have Abbie's support as we serve our network of members and Lutheran social ministry. Abbie has long been passionate about serving her community, and has served many local organizations, including: KidsAlive International, Hilltop Village Food Pantry, and Dayspring Women's' Center. On campus, she is active with the Red Cross Club, the Student Action Leadership Team (SALT), and COMPASS. She has also served as the Arts and Entertainment editor for The Torch student newspaper. This internship gives Abbie the opportunity to earn experience at an association level and contribute directly to the work of our networks.

Special thanks to Valparaiso University and the Lutheran College Washington Semester (LCWS) for their support of Lutheran social ministry and for partnering with LSA to provide opportunities to young adults who are pursuing their calling and purpose in the world.
