Lutheran Services in America Disability Network (LSA-DN) is pleased to welcome Timothy Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics, to speak at the Interfaith Disability Advocacy Coalition (IDAC) fall meeting in Washington, D.C. on October 26.
Shriver is an educator, activist and entrepreneur and has led Special Olympics for more than a decade. Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 4.5 million athletes in 170 countries.
LSA-DN is on the Steering Committee for IDAC, which seeks to mobilize the religious community to speak out and take action on disability policy issues with Congress, the president and administration and society at large. IDAC is a program of AAPD, the American Association for People with Disabilities, which promotes equal opportunity, economic power, independent living and political participation for people with disabilities.
LSA-DN is a nationwide association of Lutheran social ministry organizations, faith-based organizations and Lutheran professionals supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and related conditions.
