When Transition Comes
In any given year, as many as ten percent of LSA member organizations will experience a change in chief executive leadership. Whether from resignation or retirement, the organization’s board faces a series of challenges that must be managed well in order to make a positive difference for the organization.
LSA’s booklet, Preparing for Leadership Transitions, provides worksheets and planning guides so that the organization comes out of a leadership transition with:
- Greater clarity of purpose and mission
- A renewed sense of strategic direction
- Fresh appreciation of the organization’s competence and effectiveness
- New understanding of the depth of individual talent and capability within the organization
- Clarity about position and responsibilities
- Increased diversity – in perspective, experience and perhaps race or ethnicity
Preparing for Leadership Transitions contains sections on CEO transition planning, planning for transitions in other key positions and cultivating future leaders.
