Chris Girkin, MD, MSPH, Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Ophthalmology, The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), will provide an overview of the basic changes to the eyes with aging.
Cynthia Owsley, PhD., MSPH, Professor in the UAB Dept. Of Ophthalmology, will discuss the impact of aging-related vision changes on everyday activities such as reading the mail, shopping, cooking, walking safely and driving.
Both speakers will offer suggestions for healthy behaviors that can help protect one's eyesight. Torrey DeKeyser, Executive Director of the Eyesight Foundation of Alabama, will offer a perspective of how one local foundation is working to address vision issues of older adults in the community.
